Act I scene I was kind of confusing. The words were worded differently than we expected.
Although it was hard to read we really didn't understand why the Montague's and the Capulets are mad at each-other. Is it because one is rich and one is poor? I guess we have to keep reading to find out!
So a little summary about act I scene I is that Sampson and Gregory who are with the Capulets are "fighting" in the streets of Verona. They really hate the Montague's and are making puns and insulting them with each-other. They see a guy who works with the Montague's there and they want to find a way to fight but without breaking any laws they have.
Then Sampson bites his thumb at him (we guess its like sticking the middle finger at people as mrs.Vancil says)
Then they take out their swords to start to fight because he saw him bite his thumb. Then Tybalt comes and see's Benvolio take out his sword. Benvolio is trying to tell him he didn't wanna fight.
Then the Capulets and the Montagus go in like this bar thingy. They bumped into eachother. The people there tell them to fight but their wife's were trying to stop them. Before they started the prince came and told them to not fight. he wanted to talk to them alone. He said the next person who fights in the streets of Verona .
Then Benvolio is looking for Romeo. When he finds him Romeo looks sad. He explains that he is INLOVE with someone (we think Juliet) but she can't be with him for some reason. Then the scene ends.

Act I scene II
This scene is about Paris, he likes Juliet and he wants to get married to her. When Juliet's mom confronts Juliet her nurse tells Juliet's mom that Juliet is not even 14 and how can she get married. Juliet's mom doesn't believe her, she thinks Juliet is older. So she said Paris is having a masquerade ball/dance thingy to woo Juliet's heart.
So then the Capulets send a servant named Peter to send out invitation letters. He didn't know how to read. Then he bumped into Romeo and Benvolio and asked them to read the list of names. romeo saw Rosaline's name (his actual lover) and Peter didn't know they were Montague's so he invited them to the party. Rome of course says yes.
Benvolio wants Romeo to forget about Rosaline so he says they should go to
